Jeb Bush is currently trying to perform damage control after he, yet again, misspoke, saying that he had doubts about whether we should spend as much as we do on “women’s issues.” He made the comments at the Southern Baptist Convention Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the event he boasted that during his time as the governor of Florida, he defunded Planned Parenthood. He also promised that he would see that the group would be federally defunded, if he became president.
Bush went on to state, “…I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues…”
“You could take, dollar for dollar, – although I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues – but if you took dollar for dollar, there are many extraordinarily fine community health organizations that exist to provide quality care for women on a wide variety of health issues.”
Bush has been fairly unequivocally denounced once his comments made their way public. Hillary Clinton said in a tweet to Jeb Bush, “You are absolutely, unequivocally wrong.”
