Last night’s finale to The Daily Show was perfect. It marked the close to a program that left an undeniable mark on our political and media landscape and its host, Jon Stewart, will be sorely missed.
Last night also marked the first of the Republican party’s debates heading into the 2016 presidential election cycle. As we all expected, that media spectacle was rife with backwards policy ideas and bigotry.
But rather than getting too down about the political landscape at this particular moment –after all, the Democrats have yet to even schedule their first debate — let’s focus on all of the good things that Jon and the folks at The Daily Show gave us over the years.
Who cares about the GOP’s debate last night? Jon Stewart signed off and that’s a way bigger deal.
