The one-year anniversary of Michael Brown’s death has just passed. In the time since Brown’s death, some of the systemic justice issues that contributed to Brown’s death and the response that followed have changed, but sadly, much has not.
One of the least known sources of inequality in the justice system comes from who we choose to try the people law enforcement accuses of having broken our laws: predominately white, male prosecutors. According to the Daily Beast, 95 percent of prosecutors in America are white and the profession is plagued with misconduct.
