Donald Trump took a shot at Bernie Sanders and drew a line between himself and the Black Lives Matter movement when he discussed releasing his policy proposals.
“I would never give up my microphone. I thought that was disgusting. That showed such weakness,” Trump said. “I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will. But that was a disgrace.”
The opportunistic Trump hoped to take attention away from the lack of particulars his campaign has put forward.
“We’re going to be announcing over the next two weeks, numbers and specifics,” said Trump in Michigan. “You’ll have to be flexible on jobs and everything else.”
A major difference between Trump and Bernie Sanders, who he wants to call weak, is that Bernie Sanders actually has the scars to show for fighting for civil rights. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has no such record to note.
Just Sunday, Bernie Sanders announced his detailed plan for combating racial injustice in the United States. Trump, who can talk big, has released no such plan and gone to no such detail.
Saying that he would fight away activists protesting at his events is just the sort of puffery that Trump is good at. He just wants someone to fight, he doesn’t need something to fight for.
