It appears the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Fox News CEO Roger Ailes have kissed and made up. Ailes abandoned his anti-Trump battle plan, in which Megyn Kelly was the soldier, and has re-embraced The Donald in the pursuit of ratings.
During the Republican presidential debates last week, Kelly went on the attack with Trump in her crosshairs. She hammered down on all the candidates, but she really zeroed in on Trump. In classic Trump fashion, he admonished Kelly, the other moderators, and the Fox News network. Apparently, Kelly even received death threats from the pro-Trump mongrels.
Over the weekend, Trump told Sean Hannity that he was “never doing Fox again.” That put Ailes on red alert. Ailes offered Trump an opportunity to appear on the Kelly File to clear up things, but Trump adamantly refused. Ailes went on damage control and practically got on his knees and begged Trump to say that they’d made amends. Trump granted Ailes the favor and sent the following tweet:
Roger Ailes just called. He is a great guy & assures me that “Trump” will be treated fairly on @FoxNews. His word is always good!

“We had a blunt but cordial conversation and the air has been cleared,” said Ailes. He also said Kelly is a “brilliant journalist.” Kelly, however, said only that “I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism.”
In the end, Ailes secured his ratings, Trump got to keep his free publicity because Fox News hurt poor little Trump’s feelings.
