Friday evening, Sarah Palin interviewed Donald Trump and tried to have a serious discussion, but you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a Saturday Night Live skit. For most of the interview, the entertainment personalities whined about the state of things, especially how unfair journalists can be.
“This is a movement,” said Palin, “of Trumpeters or Trumpservatives or whatever these folks are called. He’s avant-garde, and crushing it in the polls. One America viewers, he wants to connect with you, to those who are going to show up at the polls and elect the next leader of the free world.”
Palin asked Trump about the current state of the world and the economy.
“It’s really pretty sad,” Trump said. “They’ve just destroyed our job base, and we have to make a lot of improvement.”
Palin asked Trump about being asked his favorite Bible verse, which she claimed was “off the table” and not a valid question.
“I listened to that going, ‘Do they ask Hillary that? What does it have to do with running for the office of the presidency? Is it anybody’s business?'” Palin asked.
“These personal ‘gotcha’ questions, really trying to get you, us, anybody running for office off game,” Palin said. “How are you finding that, and finding a technique to put them in their place so that the American public isn’t wasting their time and actually get to hear what’s important via candidates’ message?”
“You saw that. I love the Bible, and I’m protestant, I’m Presbyterian. And they were hitting me with different questions, one right after the other,” Trump answered. “I don’t know if it’s ‘gotcha questions,’ it probably is. And then they said, ‘What’s your favorite verse?’ You know that’s a very personal thing. I don’t like giving that out to people that you hardly know. Frankly, I don’t know if they’re fair questions, or not fair questions, but there are certain things that you, myself, and a lot of other people think too personal.”
