An unidentified Boston police officer will face criminal charges for falsifying a report that he was involved in a firefight. Originally, police had announced that they were in search of a suspect related to the shooting but have now said that the officer involved has been fired.
The unnamed police officer originally reported that a suspect had fired 2 to 3 shots at his police cruiser. He subsequently crashed his vehicle, sustaining only minor injuries. According to new reports, the only bullets that could be found at the scene belonged to the officer.
“I’m very upset and don’t know how to feel,” Police Sergeant William Dwyer told reporters.
The unidentified officer is reported to have been working for the Millis police department for at least a year, although he had not completed his education at police academy.
