Is Hillary Clinton fueling Donald Trump’s surge? The answer is most likely YES, but not in the way that you think.
According to Salon.com, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is energizing the emasculated, anti-woman wing of the Republican Party, and those men are flocking to unapologetic misogynist Donald Trump.
This makes a lot of sense when you stack up all of the evidence. For example, recent studies showed that Trump’s rise is attributed to the fact that Republicans are attracted to authoritarian candidates. Trump’s DO AS I SAY attitude is attracting these weak-willed voters who are desperate for someone to tell them how to think, and this, coupled with Trump’s backhanded attacks on Hillary without ever actually having to mention her by name, are helping to turn scared male voters against any and all female candidates.
The people that Trump is appealing to are the ones who don’t believe that women should make the same pay as men, even if they have the same qualifications, and most of them hold the belief that women probably shouldn’t even be working.
Trump is helping to fuel the GOP’s war on women without actually having to wage it. The language that he uses appeals to male voters who are absolutely terrified of being emasculated by a female president, so they’re willing to latch onto any strong male candidate that they can.
So here’s the big question – will this strategy help Donald Trump win the vote of American women? We saw what happened to Mitt Romney when he was confronted during a debate as being anti-woman, and it helped to secure his fate as a failed presidential candidate. Trump has even more baggage to deal with considering his numerous and very public divorces, his negative statements about women in general, and the very fact that he constantly objectifies women, as evidenced by the fact that the man owns the Miss America pageant.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out as we get further into this election cycle, but my prediction is that once conservative women start paying attention to who this man really is and what he stands for, he’s going to end up losing their support at a rapid pace.
