The Agenda Project Action Fund launched a public demand campaign calling for a House Ethics Committee investigation into House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the Benghazi committee.

The Agenda Project Action Fund also launched a petition calling for the investigation, and it is gaining some traction online. You can sign the petition here.

What’s more, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) has filed an ethics complaint against McCarthy and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the chairman of the Benghazi committee. Grayson said that political nature of the Benghazi committee is the “new McCarthyism.”

“This represents the new McCarthyism — the misuse of [official] funds for political purposes to vilify a political opponent,” said Grayson.

Grayson sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics about McCarthy’s comment that admitted the true nature of the Benghazi committee:

Congressman Gowdy evidently has dragged out the work of the Committee so that it would coincide with the Democratic Presidential Primary race. In the meantime, the Committee under Gowdy’s leadership has subpoenaed State Department employees and others close to former Secretary Clinton, in an apparent effort to generate anti-Clinton information and disinformation.
