Donald Trump is angry – but that’s nothing new. His latest manchild hissy fit is over his lack of Secret Service protection.
According to an interview with The Hill, Trump is upset because he feels that he deserves Secret Service protection for two reasons. The first is because, according to Trump himself, he’s pulling in larger crowds at events than anyone else ever has. This is not true, as both Bernie Sanders’ crowds and Barack Obama’s 2008 crowds dwarf Trump’s numbers.
The second reason he gave was that President Obama got Secret Service detail in June of 2007 before the primaries began, and he feels like he’s being denied protection simply because he is a Republican.
First of all, according to the Department of Homeland Security, Trump’s campaign has not even filed a petition to receive Secret Service protection. Second, Trump already has his own private security guards that follow him everywhere he goes. And third, I thought Republicans believed that they were responsible for their own personal security and protection? Seriously, isn’t that what all of the 2nd Amendment folks say? They need guns to protect themselves, so why should the taxpayers foot the bill for a man who believes that victims are to blame for their own fate?
Here’s what’s becoming increasingly apparent with Donald Trump: The man is terrified of everything, which is a trait that he shares with the majority of the Republican Party. He runs his mouth off constantly; manages to piss off the wrong people; and now he’s crying about the possibility that someone he’s offended could hurt him. This is textbook bully mentality: He likes to act all big and bad in public, but he’s scared to death that someone might actually confront him, and not necessarily with a threat of violence – Trump doesn’t even like for people who disagree with him to approach him.
If Donald Trump honestly wanted Secret Service agents to protect him he would file the appropriate paperwork and it would be granted. But instead, he wants to play the victim, make people feel sorry for him, and then complain that there’s some sort of partisan conspiracy to put him in harm’s way. He’s absolutely pathetic…
