For several weeks, there has been heavy discussion as to whether or not Vice President Joe Biden will enter the Democratic presidential race. Of course, he hasn’t said he will, but he also hasn’t said he won’t. This sort of indecision is not the characteristic of a strong presidential candidate.
All we’ve had to work with are rumors, speculations, and vague statements made by officials who are close to Biden. There’s nothing to help make a solid judgement. Biden has let this go on so long that his joining the race would only complicate the already-messy Democratic field. As it stands, there are only two strong candidates in Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Martin O’Malley is swinging for dear life, but he likely won’t get the nomination.
At this point, it would be best for Biden to announce that he isn’t running and throw his support behind either Clinton or Sanders. If he entered, it would likely scramble the Democratic race and possibly weaken it.
