President Barack Obama is pretty cozy with Big Oil. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders isn’t and has called for a federal investigation into ExxonMobil.

Sanders wrote a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch charging ExxonMobil with covering up information regarding man-made climate change. Sanders says that ExxonMobil intended to mislead the public about such information.

“It appears that Exxon knew its product was causing harm to the public, and spent millions of dollars to obfuscate the facts in the public discourse,” Sanders wrote. “The information that has come to light about Exxon’s past activities raises potentially serious concerns that should be investigated.”

Sanders referred to a recent report showing that ExxonMobil had conducted studies as far back as 1977 affirming that climate change is caused by fossil fuel emissions. Meanwhile, the industry paid millions of dollars to politicians and groups to protect fossil fuels and deny climate change.

Below is a copy of Sanders’ letter to Lynch.
