After the Benghazi hearing on Thursday, it’s safe to say that House Select Committee on Benghazi Chair Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is nothing more than a bickering child.
In the beginning of the hearing, Gowdy expressed that the hearing was not to focus on Hillary Clinton, but to find the truth. However, “finding the truth” consisted of focusing on Clinton as the Republican-led committee continued its politicized hit job on the former Secretary of State.
The hearing became nothing more than a bickering session mainly between Gowdy and Rep. Elijah Cumming (D-MD), the ranking Democratic member on the House Select Committee. Gowdy argued that the hearing wasn’t a prosecution because a prosecution involves reaching a conclusion and trying to prove it. Ironically, that’s exactly what the Republicans have been doing.
They believe Clinton was involved with the Benghazi tragedy, and they’ve been scrambling looking for evidence to support their theory.
The true meltdown came when Gowdy and Cummings started arguing about releasing the full transcript of the correspondence between Sidney Blumenthal and Clinton.
The hearing on Thursday was a complete joke, and Gowdy should realize that.
