Last week, backed by rare bipartisan support, President Obama signed a ban on the production and sale of products containing microbeads.

The ban, Microbead-Free Waters Act, which will end manufacturing by 2017, came about due to substantial evidence which shows that microbeads pollute waterways and endanger wildlife.

Microbeads, which are most often found in body wash, shower gel, and even toothpaste, are tiny plastic beads which get washed down the drain and end up in waterways.

The beads are easily ingestible by wildlife and impossible to remove from waterways due to their small size.

Watch this video to learn about the dangers of microbeads and be happy that for once, the GOP supported a governmental ban which favors the environment rather than their own pockets.
