As criticism rains down on Michigan Governor Rick Snyder over his involvement with lead-poisoned water in Flint, another notable voice joins the condemnation and calls for resignation: Senator Bernie Sanders.
Sanders released this statement on his website and twitter:

The Senator also emphasized the severity of the situation, saying that there are no excuses for the devastating damage that this exposure has caused.
There are no excuses. The governor long ago knew about the lead in Flint’s water. He did nothing. Gov. Snyder should resign.

Children in Flint will be plagued with brain damage and other health problems. The people of Flint deserve more than an apology.

These comments, along with the criticism of others and the official declaration from the President of a state of emergency in Flint, will hopefully spur further investigation into what exactly the Governor knew about the situation so that justice can be served. No matter what happens now, as the Senator points out, the damage has already been done to the citizens of Flint.
