At a rally at a religious chapel in Iowa, Trump spoke to university students with his usual trash and bluster, but he made one comment which was brand new; Trump bragged that he could commit murder and get away with it, not losing any voters.

“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”

Trump was referencing polls when he made the comment, saying that the polls show that a great deal of his supporters are “ride or die” followers who would not vote for anyone else under any circumstance. Apparently this means cold-blooded murder as well.

Students reported that they felt insulted that the candidate would use such violence in their religious house of worship, not to mention the profanity which tends to fill his rants.

During this particularly violent time when issues of gun control and mass public shootings weigh heavily on on so many, Trump’s comments are particularly insensitive. But what else do you expect from the hateful bombastic demagogue?
