In a 2014 special, comedian Lewis Black took a request to say something positive about teachers, who have come under a lot of unwarranted scrutiny by politicians lately.
In his brief rant about the profession, he shows an understanding of what teachers go through that people who have never taught often lack.
“People just don’t fucking get it, especially nowadays … It’s not an eight-hour job; it’s not a six-hour job,” said Black. “Any really good teacher is in there 10, 12, 14 hours a day. They’re grading papers that most of you who fucking bitch about teaching couldn’t sit down and get through three of them.”
