Women in America, particularly young women, feel a special kind of pressure in society in the 21st century: Objectification. Through the media, advertising, and culture, women are taught that their physical appearance is the most important aspect of themselves. They obsess over muffin tops, cry real tears over whether their nose is straight, and starve themselves to be like too-thin models with airbrushed skin.

The way that we choose to portray women in society, the way that women are treated by men, it all has a massive impact on women’s mental health.

This video is from the movement #WomenNotObjects, and it asks that you watch this simple video about the realities young women are facing, and then take a pledge.
