Because this is the election where anything is possible. Why not?
Ted Cruz made a public appearance to speak to broken-hearted Glenn Beck for the first time since he suspended his campaign just one week ago. Cruz so far says that he doesn’t plan to endorse Trump, but that there will be plenty of time for him to do so.
Cruz also dropped the bombshell that he might un-suspend his campaign, an idea that is pretty much unprecedented. Cruz said that he isn’t “holding his breath” about getting back in the race, but that he is watching the race closely and considering his options.
Voters who supported Cruz have not made up their mind about Trump just yet, saying that they do not have to choose until election day. Cruz re-upped comments other conservatives have recently made which argue that Trump has a long ways to go before he has earned the party’s support.
These comments from Cruz are surprising as it doesn’t make sense to consider rebooting a campaign that has already admitted Defeat. Cruz said that he will be watching the Nebraska results closely, and that a win for the non-existent campaign could vault it back to life like Frankenstein’s monster.
I’m willing to bet that the other 20-something failed candidates from this cycle haven’t considered that bringing their campaign back to life is an option. Might we see a renewed vision from Carson or even Huckabee? In this election, the possibilities are delightfully endless.
