On Thursday, Oklahoma Republican lawmakers passed a bill completely outlawing the practice of abortion.
Yes, if it is a day ending in the letter “y,” you can be sure that somewhere in America, a few good GOP men are huddled in a legislature trying to outlaw a practice which enjoys watertight protection by the U.S. constitution. Thursday just happened to be Oklahoma’s lucky day!
Now, if the bill is signed into law by the Oklahoma governor, it will without a doubt be struck down by the Supreme Court due to its direct contrast with established Roe V. Wade laws. The law, which seeks to criminalize doctors who perform abortions, is the same sort of law which was decided against so many years ago in the landmark case, but that doesn’t stop idiotic zealots from trying to overthrow established law.
Republicans love to complain about too much government and too many taxes, but they waste taxpayer’s money and time when they engage in passing laws they know without a doubt will be struck down.
No doubt these braindead GOP’ers are hoping that the law they voted for will be a nice red ribbon on their conservative resume, helping them to gain re-election or higher office.
