There are few things that qualify as universal experiences: we all need to eat, we all need to pay taxes, and we all hate the TSA.

But recently, the performance of the TSA has found an all-time low, leaving travelers stranded overnight in airports due to hours-long waits for security screenings.

The disruptions have become so serious that airlines are considering hiring private firms to perform security checks, ousting the government agency.
