In 1981, two Klansmen in Alabama abducted, tortured, and hung a 19 year old black man by the name of Michael Donald. Both men were convicted, but one lawyer, Morris Dees, was convinced that a greater responsibility went beyond the conviction of two lowly Klan members. Dees filed a lawsuit against the United Klans of America. Ring of Fire’s Sam Seder discusses this trial and more with author Laurence Leamer, author of The Lynching: The Epic Courtroom Battle That Brought Down The Klan.
