Though Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement stole the spotlight on the Wednesday night RNC news coverage, one other failed politician served as a Cruz encore, saying all the things that the once-candidate refused to say.

Newt Gingrich took to the RNC stage directly after Cruz finished his remarks, with his wife Calista in tow. Considering that the crowd had rewarded Cruz’s non-endorsement of Trump with a volley of boo’s, the only way to go was up for Gingrich.

And was Gingrich ever ready for that Trump-loving, Muslim-hating crowd of rabid idiots!

The former congressman told the rapt audience that the terror threat America was currently facing was even more terrifying than they had previously been led to believe – in fact, it was about the most horrible thing that had ever happened – EVER!

“We are at war. We are at war with radical Islamists, and we are losing the war. They are determined to kill us.”

Okay, heavy, but we’ve heard that before. But then Gingrich goes one further:

“The danger we face is much worse than the horrors that happened in Germany on New Year’s Eve, when twelve-hundred women were assaulted. It’s worse than what’s happening in Israel, where average citizens fear for their lives whenever they leave their homes. The danger is even worse than September 11.”

Oh nuh-uh, you did NOT just say that what ISIS stands for is more dangerous than 9/11 – shouldn’t that have gotten a volley of boo’s from the patriotic crowd? No?

Oh, I forgot we’re living in the God-forsaken Twilight Zone.

I guess we should just be grateful that Gingrich didn’t invoke the Holocaust as well.

Watch.
