Now that the Democratic party officials have done their best to sing “kumbaya” and unite around the nominee, it’s time to “make America trust again” when it comes to nominee Hillary Clinton.
Throughout the election, polling at various establishments show that Americans by and large don’t trust Clinton, with the majority of citizens saying they can’t trust her to be honest or forthcoming. Based on her history of scandals and deep-seated establishment status, it’s not hard to see why.
In various polls in recent months, as many as 66 percent of respondents have said that they do not trust Clinton. This number is not likely to decrease substantially, but the Democratic party certainly has work to do to convince voters that Clinton is less damaging and harmful than Donald Trump.
What’s more, the party must work to demonstrate the ways in which Clinton is a good candidate – not just “better than Trump.”
We’ve already seen some attempts at humanizing Clinton, including Bill Clinton’s interesting convention speech on Tuesday evening when he told the American public about Hillary the wife, rather than Hillary the politician.
There’s still a long way to go for the party if they expect to win over progressive voters, but the bulk of that effort lies in convincing the American public that the Hillary Clinton they think they know is second fiddle to the compassionate politician, fighting for them.
