Yesterday, CNN reported that the Secret Service did in fact peak with the Trump campaign about his remarks. Before those conversations were confirmed – one former Secret Service official told TIME that “this guy is coming pretty close to the edge here. If this was some guy off the street and they made that statement, you’d go out and interview them. He’s not gonna act on this. But you don’t know what you’re encouraging other people to do.” And that’s the problem – there’s no way to know who might be incited to act based on Trump’s word. The RNC is still backing Trump – so the question is: has the party of Abraham Lincoln finally gone so completely off the rails that it’s instead become the party of John Wilkes Booth? Charles Sauer, Alex Lawson, & Jason Russell join Thom Hartmann to discuss this.
