On Thursday afternoon, Senator Bernie Sanders responded to the Obama Administration’s decision to keep marijuana at the DEA’s previously-classified Schedule 1 category.

Said Sanders:

“It’s well past time for us to take marijuana off the federal government’s list of outlawed drugs.”

Bernie posted his reaction to his Twitter account, pointing out the absurdity of cannabis being in the same extreme category as heroin.

Bernie’s progressive stance on marijuana is just one of the many issues that we miss out on by not having Sanders as our Democratic nominee. Establishment types like Obama and Clinton may come around slowly on these issues, but Sanders would have never allowed Marijuana to be labeled as the “most dangerous drug,” under his administration. This is just one more reminder that Bernie was a once-in-a-lifetime candidate.
