Boy, this is gonna make Jones’ day!
On Tuesday evening, president Obama gave a rare shoutout to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones when he responded to the kook’s wild idea that both Obama and Hillary Clinton are demons.
At a Clinton campaign event in North Carolina, Obama was busy talking about the necessity of civility in politics, saying that those who are competing politically cannot “constantly demonize each other,” when he made a vague reference to Jones.
“And I mean that literally, by the way. I was reading the other day, there’s a guy on the radio who — apparently Trump’s on his show frequently — he said me and Hillary are demons. Said we smell like sulfur.”
The president then dramatically sniffed his arm to applause and laughter from the crowd.
“Ain’t that somethin’?”
Bringing a bit of levity to his light-hearted point, the President said that there are many who listen to insane rantings from Jones and others. It is this sort of rabid divisiveness which is a threat to Democracy as a whole.
If Jones isn’t too busy fawning over the fact that the smooth-talking jock finally noticed him, the weird kid, he might take heed of the president’s important words. Buuut we doubt that.
Watch.
