“Morning Joe'”s Joe Scarborough was certainly trying to make a valid point on Wednesday morning, but whatever decent political comment he had planned was immediately overshadowed by an uncomfortable moment when he referred to Obama as “Black Jesus.”
Scarborough was attempting to say that the media’s hysteria about Trump will only help him look more successful later if he manages to accomplish even one positive thing – a debatable point. But the Black Jesus comment came in when Scarborough tried to compare Trump to Obama, who he said was held to the highest standard from the start.
“Obama came in as black Jesus. I don’t want to come in as redneck Jesus if I’m a president of the United States. You want to come in where people — like Ronald Reagan — actually underestimate you.”
Well that was a vaguely offensive word salad, Joe! Let’s see if you can make things worse.
“And the media, once again, has done Donald Trump a great favor. What have they told us over the past week? He’s a white supremacist, he’s a Nazi, he’s bringing Nazis back to America.”
Apparently bringing up valid issues of white supremacists stocking the White House cabinet, an up-spike in hate crimes, as well as celebratory parade for Trump held by the KKK is all not worth commenting on?
And in what world was Obama viewed as a Christ-like figure by the entirety of the United States? I seem to recall a certain MASSIVE portion of the population who couldn’t wait to see that black man kicked out of office.
“You are all fools!”
