CNN pundit Van Jones has been stepping out increasingly into the left-wing spotlight in recent months, emboldened by Trump’s win to reach the full potential of his liberal spirit.
Unlike most Democratic voices in the public eye today, Jones is having none of the left-wing talking point which blames the Russians for every ache and pain the Democrats are experiencing.
Speaking to “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, Jones expressed the same frustration many progressives feel in regards to postmortem finger-pointing by the liberal elite.
According to Jones, the party should have easily won in a contest against Donald Trump – even if the Russians hacked the election and every bit of mud was slung at the Democratic nominee. That they lost was a clear failing of the party structure, and something they can’t blame on anyone else.
“So far, what you hear is: it was the Comey letter, it was the Russians, all this stuff. And that’s true. But she was running against an orange nightmare! She should have won by fifty states! I don’t want to hear about the Russians right now.”
Honestly, this is exactly right. It doesn’t matter who or what might have turned the tides: the fact that Clinton didn’t sweep the U.S. means that there was something deeply wrong wiht the candidate and with the party.
Until Democrats can accept that – truly accept it – they will continue to lose against Trump and anyone else who opposes them.
Watch.
