The economy definitely is in much better shape than it has been in a long time. Americans are working longer hours and are being more productive than at any time in history. It’s time for those workers to get a raise.

According to ABC:

Not only are Americans working longer hours than at any time since statistics have been kept, but now they are also working longer than anyone else in the industrialized world. And while workers in other countries have been seeing their hours cut back by legislation focused on preventing work from infringing on private life, Americans have been going in the other direction.

Yet all of that work isn’t resulting in higher pay for those workers, according to recent studies. Across the board, both high-paid and low-paid jobs have been seeing their wages fall. Undoubtedly, one of the factors contributing to that is the leverage employers have to pressure employees for more labor without any increased compensation, thanks to years of high unemployment.

A report from the National Employment Law Project shows how far wages have fallen for the period of 2009 through 2014.

The analysis makes it obvious that Americans are in need of raises to help correct the years of watching their wages sink and their work increased.
