Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has fired or suspended 50,000 people in Turkey, and arrested 9,000, for their alleged roles in the attempted coup. The country has declared a state of emergency for the next three months and now wants the US to extradite a former Erdogan ally, Fethullah Gulen.
