Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has fired or suspended 50,000 people in Turkey, and arrested 9,000, for their alleged roles in the attempted coup. The country has declared a state of emergency for the next three months and now wants the US to extradite a former Erdogan ally, Fethullah Gulen. RT America’s Manila Chan has the story and reports that the Turkish government blames Gulen, who now operates charter schools in the United States, for the failed coup.
