On Wednesday morning, it was announced that former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson has filed a sexual assault case against Fox News chief and CEO Roger Ailes.
Carlson alleges that she was fired after refusing to sleep with Ailes. The official complaint alleges that Ailes made extensive lewd comments toward Carlson “ranging from lewd innuendo, ogling and remarks about Ms. Carlson’s body to demands for sex as a way for her to improve her job standing.”
Carlson also claims that in September of 2015, Ailes said that the two should have been sexually involved in order to improve their career and working relationship. Ailes allegedly said that “sometimes problems are easier to solve that way.”
Ailes also reportedly made frequent comments about Carlson’s physical appearance, asking her to turn around so he could look at her backside and commenting on which outfits complimented her figure best.
The story was released by the law firm representing Carlson.
Carlson released this statement on her action:
“I have strived to empower women and girls throughout my entire career. Although this was a difficult step to take, I had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation of women in the workplace. I am extremely proud of my accomplishments at Fox News and for keeping our loyal viewers engaged and informed on events and news topics of the day.”
Lawyers representing Carlson said that they feel they will be able to prove that Ailes created a hostile working environment for Carlson and directly sabotaged her promising career.
Knowing what kind of scumbag is running Fox News, it wouldn’t be so crazy to believe that the complaints against Ailes are legitimate, and if so, he is a worse person than we previously believed.
