Slimy “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli has once again sank to a new low this week as he offered the chance to punch his ever-so-punchable face to the highest bidder.
Performing his publicity stunt under the guise of charity, Shkreli made the announcement on his Twitter account that he would be allowing whoever gave the most cash to a cancer charity to sock him right in his smug face. The bids began flowing in, and Shkreli called an end to the contest when a woman from Florida pledged $50,000.
To his credit, Shkreli did pledge to match the highest bid, meaning that the charity will now receive $100,000 from his stunt. Nevertheless, knowing the massive piles of cash the man has access to, it makes no sense that he would need an outside party to pledge money – and for such an insane premise.
Shkreli claims that he was inspired to auction off this violent prize when he learned that a child of a personal friend was suffering from cancer. Not content to quietly donate to help the child, the pharma disgrace had to turn it into a publicity stunt.
Now, a woman named Katie from Florida will have the unique honor of being able to assault the infamous man in his marionette, elfin face. It’s too bad that we couldn’t get an MMA fighter or a boxing champ to win the bet.
